Stardust is a CMS (Content Management System)

Initially Stardust CMS was designed by Starship Troopers for their own needs as other popular CMS, that were already exist, weren't satisfying completely. Mostly because of the combination of factors such as excessive complexity, maintenance costs and time, poor performance and / or usability, difficulties with development of project specific features and performing complex system integration with other systems.

And the Stardust was born. Yes we decided to invent our own bicycle which we would be able deeply customise, develop specific modules and functionality, able to conveniently manage many websites in one place, not getting frustrated with imperfections found in other CMS, because that would be our own imperfections we would easily accept. :)

Stardust CMS got some very own unique features, ergonomic and lightweight interface, compare to WordPress, for example. Even though WordPress has enormous community, thousands ready to use plugins and modules, we still find it much overloaded and heavy for the task of creating a simple one page website or relatively uncomplicated web projects and applications.

We made Stardust to be ergonomic and efficient in content management first of all. We hate constantly reloading pages. We hate inefficiency. In Stardust CMS we can create mobile ready fully responsible website structure literally in less than 5 minutes, then we add pages and rearrange structure in drag and drop manipulations, we enable and disable modules by just clicking ON / OFF switches in the website structure preferences, we do inline text editing. We love using it ourselves so we hope you will too.

Stardust isn't complete product yet. It's in constant development. It's not perfect but we strive to perfection. The perfection of content management and ergonomic website structure manipulations that you would enjoy using first of all. Being creators of Stardust system, we able to quickly develop specific modules and web services, adopting Stardust functionality to all sorts of specific business applications.

As we are not able to compete with WordPress or Drupal for example when it comes to a number of plugins, we tried to make Stardust user experience itself more pleasant, editing content faster and ergonomic. Bellow is a current list of features.

Ergonomic inline editing

All texts, captions, parameters, selects etc. is editable inline. It means that to edit content you don't have to load a special form for that. It's just enough to click the piece of text and start editing. Press Enter button and it's saved without reloading the whole page. Making committing content changes a breeze.

Full screen sliders

You can create unlimited number of full screen sliders with custom captions and texts over the image. And not just image. You can also upload videos and set awesome full screen video background for your website with dynamic texts over it if needed.

Rich media inline text editing

We use the latest version of Ckeditor rich text editor. You don't need to load any form to edit text content. You just click text and edit. You move mouse out of it and it's automatically saved as a background process so you don't need to do anything else. Editing texts in Stardust is so ergonomic. It probably can't be more ergonomic than that. You should try it.

Site structure management

Your website foundation structure get created just with one click of a button. The website structure can be easily changed later by just drag and drop manipulations. Main menu ordering, pages ordering, sections ordering, information blocks ordering, image galleries, videos. Whatever can be re-ordered gets reordered in the most ergonomic way. You grab it's header by the mouse, move it where you think it should be and leave it there. Done! Your website structure have changed. Again, in a background process. Nice and smooth. No page reload waiting, no complicated forms, no clicking buttons.

Media galleries

Media is a very important part of any website. Convenience of managing media content is even more important. Currently you can use two main types of media content. Images and video. Every page section can have it's own media gallery. Media can be represented in many different layouts. List, slides, tabs and combination of those. Images can be uploaded in bulk. You don't need to load them one by one. Images in media gallery can be easily re-arranged by drag and drop manipulations.

Stardust CMS has it's own blog engine, that logically detached from the rest of CMS, so it can be used by authors that should not have access to the website structure editing and can only create and edit posts in the blog. Using Stardust CMS and it's publishing module you can create fully functional online media. Each blog post allows you to add media galleries, add post images, Youtube videos and many more. Authors can use different own pseudonyms posting the stuff if they want to hide their real name.

Mobile first mode

This is a special option that can be activated in site settings where you can set a specific page or the whole website as a single page “mobile first” web application. It does not load any default frameworks used in rendering your website, but instead initialises mobile app environment where we add a specific single page web application as a module in the CMS settings.

Online Travel Agent (OTA) mode

In this mode you get full screen image and video slider that can be translated on TV screens and monitors as a digital sign. In the CMS section you can create new signs, enable or disable them, change order, set playback timing etc

You can disable main menu, website header and footer of the “mother” website and make such page look absolutely on their own yet able to use all the available functional sections of the page. ie full screen sliders, media galleries, text sections, info blocks sections (like this one you're reading at the moment) noticeboards, full width banners with text etc. The landing page can have it's own SEO optimisation separate from the mother website, it's own Google Analytics etc.
